The wine has an intense ruby red color. It offers full and complex aromas which recall ripe fruit, plum jam, mint, chocolate, and tobacco. In the mouth, the wine presents itself with good body; it is round, with soft, velvety tannins. The finish is long and lingering, leaving hints of ripe fruit on the palate.
The meteorological conditions during winter and spring, with above average temperatures, caused vegetative regrowth to take place quite early in the season. This also affected the phases of fruit setting and veraison of the plants. The noteworthy early progression of the vegetative cycle diminished as the season continued, also due to the rains which came down during the second half of August.. September was characterized by good weather and dry conditions, which encouraged the perfect ripening of all of the grape varietals as well as enabling the harvest to be carried out at the right moment. Harvesting was initiated at the beginning of September with merlot, followed by syrah and cabernet sauvignon, and ended at the beginning of October with sangiovese.
