Mid-straw in color with a bright clarity. Vibrant white-currant, nettle, and gooseberry aromas, with a grapefruit core. Some pungent herbaceous and jalapeno flavours fill in the background. The palate is full and vibrant. Fresh nettle, gooseberry and tropical fruit flavors abound and linger on the long, clean acid finish.
We recommend drinking our 2011 Sauvignon Blanc while it is young and fresh, but the wine is capable of developing nicely over the next three to five years if carefully cellared.
The early ripening season was mild and dry. Favorable conditions over budburst lead to a good fruit set. Wetter weather over late December caused rapid growth and a need for careful canopy management. The later part of the season was both warm and dry, with cool nights to retain acid freshness and delicate flavors.
