Chiarlo Barbera d'Asti Superiore Le Orme 2009 - Barbera d'Asti was the first wine to be produced by Michele Chiarlo, and remains his biggest passion. He seeks vineyards in the prestigious areas of Nizza Monferrato, Agliano, Calamandrana, Castelnuovo Calcea and Montaldo Scarampi, all within the Barbera d'Asti growing area.
2009 was a particularly good vintage in Asti and Alba, and has produced rich versions of this lovely grape with round textures. Aged for eight months in large French oak barrels, the wine is elegant with fine intensity, hints of wild berries and mint leaves. Serve with pasta dishes with red sauces, roasted chicken or chicken with mushrooms, and light red meat dishes.
