Domaine de La Maurelle Gigondas 2009 - Domaine de la Maurelle is a solid creamy, very complete wine. Garnet Red. The scent has great warm fruit, with nuances of Provencal herbs. The flavor is rich and complex heartwarming. A great wine.
A typical Gigondas grape has the following composition: up to 80% Grenache Noir, Syrah and Mourvedre added. These are also the blue grape varieties typical of the entire Rhone appelation. Grenache Noir itself in fruitiness, tannins and acids. Rigor, minerality and length are provided by the Syrah grape. The use of the structure and Mourvedre promotes the sustainability of the wine. In 1971 it acquired the area AOC.
The vineyards of Domaine de la Maurelle Gigondas are at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, about twenty miles from Orange, and both are on terraces and slopes to find. If all goes well Gigondas is a solid, balanced wine with a very specific flavors (musk), which easily can be kept 10 years.
The greatest of care was taken in making this Gigondas, using the best of traditional methods and modern technology. Our cellarmaster brings out the terroir's personality by fermenting the must in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats to preserve its intrinsic fruit and aromas. Aging for 8-10 months adds complexity and character.
