The origins of this Chateau of 12 hectares go back to the mid-eighteenth century. Catherine Conseillan headed the property, at that time and gave her name to the Chateau. In 1871, the family Nicolas became the owner of the field and gave it its current size, which has remained unchanged since then. This family is still at the head of the Chateau today. Wines from this area are made from merlot (80%) and cabernet franc (20%). They are powerful wines, but unlike many Pomerols, they are distinguished by their variety of scents. The Chateau La Conseillante's wines have flexible and fine aromas.
A bit funky but delicious now. Medium-red color with an amber edge. Aromas of ripe berries, earth and saddle leather. Medium-bodied, with spicy flavors, soft tannins and a ripe fruit finish. -1990 Bordeaux retrospective. Drink now. 5,000 cases made. -JS, Wine Spectator, Score:90
