When the Moonstone flavor infusions were first crafted we were told to not do it. "You don't put fruit flavor in saké, its just not done." But we were exploring new ground and had a bit of a rebellious spirit that drove us to what some call heresy but we simply call tasty. Today you can find an increasing amount of fruit infused saké in Japan but they are called liquor instead of saké and often use futsu, or basic, saké as their base. Moonstone starts with premium Oregon craft saké brewed with pristine water and carefully 

 

No skimping on flavor or quality. All Moonstone are crafted with fresh brewed Oregon Junmai Ginjo (note that once the flavor is added we do not call it Junmai) and proprietary all-natural flavors selected by our tasting panel. Oregon water, rice milled to 60%, hand-worked koji, proper aging, all of what makes a saké truly fine goes into Moonstone plus the flavor. Once our sakémaster (Greg Lorenz) is happy with his brew, we blend our flavors.

Ideal with blue cheese, creamy pasta, roast pork or slow cooked ribs. Chill and enjoy or mix in a dynamic saké cocktail.
